Because of new security features in Windows 2008, ExchangeMWI Configurations application does not have permission to create or modify the prefs.xml file. This file is created and modified when configuring ExchangeMWI. However, the ExchangeMWI service only needs "read" rights to the preference file when running.

A quick workaround to this problem is to right click the application (ExchangeMWI Configurations) and run-as administrator to provide the required permissions.
